Britney Spears has deactivated her Instagram days after announcing her engagement on the platform.
Spears took to Twitter to tell her fans what happened. “Don’t worry folks … just taking a little break from social media to celebrate my engagement,” she wrote. “I’ll be back soon.”
Spears told her fans that she would be posting less on social media due to the news coverage of her conservatorship battle.
“Unfortunately the news has been pretty nasty saying horrible and mean lies about me so I’m gonna post a little less from now on!!!!” Spears wrote in a post last month.
The news of the account deactivation comes only two days after she announced her engagement to Sam Asghari, which led to many fans telling her to get a prenup. Asghari responded to these fans with a humorous message on his Instagram Story.
“My phone exploded today! Thank you for the overwhelming love and congratulations,” he wrote. “We both love every single one of you! Thank you for your concern about the prenup! Of course, we’re getting iron-clad prenup to protect my Jeep and shoe collection in case she dumps me one day.”
This engagement came in the middle of her ongoing legal battle over her conservatorship, which might be coming to an end soon as her father has filed to end it. In court, she accused her father of abuse.
