In an Instagram post, Britney Spears shut down fans’ concerns by explaining that the knives flashed in a previous video were fake.
“I know I spooked everyone with the last post, but these are fake knives that my team rented from Hand Prop shop in L.A.,” the singer wrote. “These are not real knives. No one needs to worry or call the police.”
After the video, which captured Spears dancing with two kitchen knives in her hand, was uploaded, fans and friends of the pop star reported her behavior to authorities, requesting that they perform a wellness check on Spears.
She has since explained that she was imitating a performance by Shakira at the MTV Video Music Awards in September, in which the singer used fake knives as props.
“Cheers to us bad girls who aren’t afraid to push boundaries and take risks,” Spears said.
Since the recent divorce filing by Spears’ ex, Sam Asghari, the singer has posted a number of bizarre videos on social media.
