Britney Spears Calls Sister Jamie Lynn ‘Ungrateful’ In New Memoir
Jamie Lynn Spears may have portrayed a nice young girl on Zoey 101, but her older sister, Britney Spears, has revealed that she was quite unlike her character.
Britney’s new memoir, The Woman In Me, recounts moments when Jamie Lynn was not the sweet little sister Britney was expecting her to be.
“My little sister — well, when I tell you was a total b—, I’m not exaggerating,” the pop star wrote in her book. “It was clear that girl ruled the roost. Meanwhile, it was like I was a ghost child. I can remember walking into the room and feeling like no one even saw me. Jamie Lynn only saw the TV.”
To provide an example of Jamie Lynn’s attitude, Britney wrote about her sister “spew[ing] these hateful words” and asked their mother, Lynne Spears, if she was “going to let this little witch talk to [her] like that?”
Britney also claims that Jamie Lynn was “ungrateful” and became even more so as she grew older. The Grammys singer said she bought a house for her little sister to “grow up in,” but recalls Jamie Lynn asking, “Why’d she get us a house?”
Later on, Britney says Jamie Lynn told her that the Florida condo she bought specifically for their family was never used. This turned out to be a lie, as Britney details in her book that she discovered later on that their mother, Jamie Lynn and Jamie Lynn’s two daughters, Maddie and Ivey, spent their weekends there without informing the pop star.
Although Jamie Lynn was allegedly not as kind to her sister as she should have been, Britney still stepped up to be the protective older sister, as Britney recalls confronting a then-12-year-old Alexas Nikolas about spreading rumors about Jamie Lynn. After finding out that Jamie Lynn had lied, Britney apologized to Nikolas on Twitter, now X, to which Nikolas accepted.
Britney’s new book may have shed light on when their sister drama began, but that is reportedly all over now after they had a family reunion back in June.
