Jamie Lynn Spears, who has been promoting her upcoming memoir Things I Should Have Said, discussed a particularly harrowing moment she described in her memoir where her sister, pop star Britney Spears, allegedly drew a knife and locked her in a room, in a new interview.
She was questioned about the altercation by Juju Chang for a Nightline interview Wednesday night. Britney allegedly told Jamie Lynn she was scared before locking the two of them in a room with her wielding a knife.
Jamie Lynn said she chose to include the story because “I think that experiencing my own panic attacks and how sometimes we can feel in those moments is important.” She also went on to say “I was a kid in that moment. I was scared, that was an experience I had.” She didn’t comment on where or when this incident occurred.
She also said that there were several other examples of incidents like that during their upbringing.
In what has become a usual fashion for the singer, Britney responded to this revelation in a public post to her Twitter following, where she denied the claims and called Jamie Lynn a “scum person.” You can read the full statement below.
The younger Spears is not holding back any stories from her memoir it seems. In another part of the book, Jamie Lynn described a blowout fight between the two sisters while they were quarantining together in 2020, which resulted in Britney “screaming and getting up in my face,” until Jamie Lynn’s 12-year-old daughter Maddie broke them up.
