Pop icon Britney Spears is continuing to catch her fans off guard with her increasingly erratic social media posts.
Spears’ most recent video shows her energetically dancing and twirling with a chaotic – almost manic – energy.
In the clip, Spears, 43, performs kicks, spins, slaps and sassy, sexy hand movements for the camera, sporting a low-cut pink summer dress and dancing along to Madonna’s 1986 hit “La Isla Bonita.”
Spears captioned the post with a triangular ruler emoji and two red roses. Although Spears turned off commenting on the post directly, many fans were quick to find a platform to share their thoughts. While some people embraced her wild and spirited display, many others dropped judgmental remarks about the unstructured nature of her performance.
Spears’ Instagram posts have lately garnered concern from some of her fans that the singer is mentally unstable. As her social media presence has steadily grown more random and nonsensical, many followers have become disturbed by her irregular posts. However, many true-blue fans of the singer have pointed out that Spears’ unpredictability has always been a major contributor to her widespread success. They argue that Spears is merely trying to keep up appearances, perhaps going farther than she has previously in order to maintain a hold on the public as she ages.
Nonetheless, Spears’ social media posts have been difficult to analyze over the last few months. From claims that she is starting a kindergarten in Mexico and is now “five years old”, to statements referring to her own brother as ‘sexy’, to her unhinged dance videos, Spears has seemingly undergone an unexplainable emotional shift in the last few years. Many have speculated this is related to her being released from her conservatorship in 2021.
In an earlier post, Spears shared that she wanted to open up more about her struggles but is afraid what she has to say would be inappropriate to say online. She relayed, “Nothing is what it seems sometimes!!! I portray that everything is completely perfect, but trust me, I’ve been through it as well, and I would share those struggles, but they are too offensive to share.”
She added, “It could make other people extremely sad, and honestly, there’s not a d— thing I can do about it, so just know my life is not as perfect as it seems.”
