Bristol Palin And Levi Johnston Engaged

It must be wedding season. Former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin’s eldest daughter, Bristol Palin, 19, has announced that she plans to wed her baby’s daddy, Levi Johnston, 20. The on-again/off-again pair are now officially back on, despite Sarah Palin‘s disapproval.

Bristol famously became pregnant at the age of 17, at the height of her mother’s campaign, with then-boyfriend Johnston. The two had broken it off in March 2009 and pursued a career in modeling and acting. He also famously spoke out against the Palin family in various interviews. Johnston has said he was "pretty sure [Sarah Palin] probably knew," that he and Bristol were sleeping together in the governor’s mansion, which Palin has denied. He also spoke out about Palin’s resignation from governorship, claiming that it was most likely for money and due to marital issues — something Palin has also denied.

Johnston has since atoned for his statements, he apologized to Sarah and the Palin family, both publicly and privately last week. However, according to Bristol, it’s going to take a lot more than an apology for her mother to forgive him. "With her, his actions will have to speak louder than words," Bristol told People. "And he’ll have to get his education and a job and be willing to support Tripp the right way. And then I think she’ll come around."

Sarah Palin released a statement to NBC today saying, "Bristol at 19 is now a young adult. We obviously want what’s best for our children. Bristol believes in redemption and forgiveness to a degree most of us struggle to put in practice in our daily lives." –ELENA COX
