Bristol Palin has broken her silence about the last minute cancelation of her wedding to fiancé Dakota Meyer.

Bristol Palin On Canceled Wedding

In a blog post titled, “The Wedding That Didn’t Happen,” Palin, the daughter of former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, decided to “address the elephant-in-the-room” – her broken engagement to U.S. Marine Meyer.

“I feel like I need to address the elephant-in-the-room on this blog, since you guys have been with me through thick and thin.  When I first got engaged, you were the first ones I wanted to tell,” Palin wrote.  “I guess you have seen by now that the wedding — that was supposed to happen last weekend — was called off.  I’m sure you’ve seen this has been all over the media, but this is a painful time for family and friends and I would just really appreciate your prayers.”

Palin added that she’s ready for what’s next for her and her 6-year-old son Tripp with ex-fiancé Levi Johnson.

“I know God’s plan is greater than anything else, and Tripp and I are in Alaska beginning to rebuild our lives under much different circumstances than we anticipated,” Palin wrote.

Last week, Sarah Palin took to Facebook to confirm that her eldest daughter would not be marrying Meyer over Memorial Day Weekend, as had been the plan. She also assured family and friends that a party would still take place in Kentucky, but that there would be no exchanging of vows.

“Bristol and Dakota couldn’t be more thankful for the love and support of family and friends over the past months while preparing for their wedding,” the former governor of Alaska wrote. “They have informed loved ones that unfortunately the announced celebration planned for May 23 will not be held.

In the same Facebook post, Bristol Palin acknowledged the media reports about Meyer’s previous marriage. According to her, while it was news to the masses, she was aware of his past relationships, including the marriage and divorce.

“Regarding salacious headlines in recent days about ‘secret wives,’ Dakota and I discussed our past relationships prior to our engagement,” she wrote. “Dakota was legally divorced years ago, as any good reporter could and should have disclosed to readers.”
