Red Sonja actress Brigitte Nielsen gave birth to her fifth child and first daughter, Frida, on Friday. The newborn weighed 5 lbs. 9 oz.

Nielson and her husband TV producer Mattia Dessi welcomed their baby in Los Angeles.

“We are overjoyed to welcome our beautiful daughter into our lives,” the parents told People. “It’s been a long road, and so worth it. We’ve never been more in love.”

Dessi is the Danish Italian actress’ fifth husband. She already has four sons who are all over the age of 20: Raoul Meyer Jr., 23, Douglas Meyer, 25, Killian Gastineau, 28, and Julian Winding, 34.

She first revealed that she’d like more children in August 2008, even if it meant relying on medical procedures to become pregnant again.

“The children have kept me going. After I do Playboy, we want to try IVF. It’s asking a lot, but if it’s possible, it would make our package complete,” Nielsen told Hello! magazine.

Nielsen also discussed how her alcohol addiction affected her parenting skills at times.

“I’ve been a bad mum at times – when you take the bottle over your kids, you’re a bad mum,” she said. “But I love them and there has always been a close bond.”

Nielsen married Dessi, 39, in 2006. She announced her pregnancy in late May via Instagram.
