Brie Larson won the Best Actress award for her performance in the movie Room at this year’s 2016 Oscars ceremony.

This was the first Oscar for the 26-year-old actress. “Oh, wow! Thank you first to the Academy. I want to start big because the thing I love about movie making is how many people it takes to make it,” Larson said in her speech.

Larson was up against many other talented actresses, ultimately beating out Cate Blanchett (Carol), Jennifer Lawrence (Joy), Charlotte Rampling (45 Years) and Saoirse Ronan (Brooklyn). The new Oscar winner celebrated in style, by attending the Vanity Fair Oscar after-party.

Larson’s boyfriend, Alex Greenwald, made sure to kiss the Best Actress before she took the stage. “To my real partner, Alex Greenwald—I love you, the whole thing!” she gushed during her Oscars speech.
