Brian Schweitzer, Former Montana Governor, Says Eric Cantor Sets Off His 'Gaydar'

Former Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer (D) may have squashed his chances of launching a bid for the presidency in 2016 the other day when he referred to his “gaydar” when talking about Rep. Eric Cantor.

Brian Schweitzer Says 'Gaydar' Goes Off With Eric Cantor

There have been numerous theories offered as to why Cantor lost his congressional seat to Tea Party candidate David Brat in Virginia’s 7th district. Schweitzer, however, is the first to suggest that it was Cantor’s sexuality that did him in at the polls.

“If you were just a regular person, you turned on the TV, and you saw Eric Cantor talking, I would say—and I'm fine with gay people, that's all right—but my gaydar is 60-70 percent,” Schweitzer said in the interview with the National Journal.

Ill-advisedly continuing, Schweitzer added, “Don't hold this against me, but I'm going to blurt it out. How do I say this … men in the South, they are a little effeminate. They just have effeminate mannerisms.”

Schweitzer also had a colorful analysis of Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), who he likened to a prostitute in her role as the Intelligence Committee chair.

"She was the woman who was standing under the streetlight with her dress pulled all the way up over her knees," he said about Feinstein. “And now she says, 'I'm a nun,' when it comes to this spying. I mean, maybe that's the wrong metaphor — but she was all in!"

Cantor is married to a woman and has three children.
