Brandon Rogers, ‘America’s Got Talent’ Contestant, Killed In Car Accident At 29

Brandon Rogers, an America’s Got Talent hopeful, died over the weekend in a car accident. He was 29.

Rogers was a doctor who liked to cover classic songs in his spare time. The show’s producers found his cover of Boyz II Men’s “On Bended Knee,” and was invited to audition for the competition reality show. His audition in front of judges Simon Cowell, Mel B, Heidi Klum, and Howie Mandel was slated to air next month, but now the show is undecided on whether or not to air the content. Rogers’ family wishes for the clip to be shown.

The young singer was even noticed by Boyz II Men themselves, who invited Rogers to sing with them for three nights at the Mirage in Las Vegas in January of this year.

“Today our hearts are deeply saddened to learn about the sudden death of Dr. Brandon Rogers,” the group wrote on their Instagram page. “A few months back we brought this young man out to the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas to perform with us. He was great all 3 nights! Just a genuinely nice person and a really good singer. Gone too young and gone too soon. It hurts to know that the world will never have a chance to witness what his impact on the world could have been as a Doctor and even on the music world. A great spirit and a great voice. Even for the little time we knew you you will be sorely missed. May God Bless, keep and comfort your family in this difficult time.”

Rogers was in the passenger seat of a friend’s car when it veered off the road and hit a tree. The driver sustained no injuries, while Rogers and another passenger were hospitalized. Rogers died Sunday from his injuries.
