Brandi Glanville threw wine on Jeff Lewis and burst into tears during an appearance on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen Tuesday, but she’s now claiming it was all a practical joke.
Glanville’s dramatic personality has been well documented on Bravo’s Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, and she was in fine form during a recent appearance on Cohen’s late night talk show with Lewis, the star of Flipping Out. When asked if Glanville would run her fingers through Lewis’ hair to prove it was real, Lewis made a joke, asking if he could get an STD from that, upsetting Glanville. “Yeah, pretty much. You better check your mother—king self,” she replied quietly.
It wasn’t until after returning from a commercial break that Glanville let her feelings about the joke be known, flicking wine from her glass onto his hair. “Now, no STDs, you’re good. Alcohol kills everything,” Glanville said.
“Including feelings,” replied Cohen as Lewis’ jaw dropped in shock.
Ironically, they had previously spoken about Glanville’s drunken behavior on a recent episode of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, where she threw a bit of wine on a fellow cast member. When asked whether she regretted her behavior, Glanville had said, “I think that when you waste wine, it’s alcohol abuse.”
Lewis appeared baffled by Glanville’s sudden fit, while Cohen tried to serve as peacemaker. When asked why exactly she was so upset, Glanville got even more emotional, covering her face with her hands and letting out a sob. “I really can’t even talk about this right now because I’m getting so upset. I don’t want to cry right now,” she said.
Glanville managed to say that she thought the joke crossed a line, especially after the revelation she made in her book that her ex-husband, Eddie Cibrian, gave her an STD. Lewis defended himself, saying that he had already apologized and that he had never read her book. “I’m really sorry. I was joking,” Lewis insisted.
Glanville, however, was not impressed, turning her back to the cameras and appearing to cry.
The duo made up during the After Show, with both Lewis and Glanville apologizing to each other.
After the episode aired, Glanville took to Twitter to defend her actions and claimed it was all an elaborate prank! “People, Jeff Lewis and I were joking! We are good friends,” Glanville wrote.
Glanville claimed that she and Lewis had planned the entire thing during the commercial break to prank Cohen. She also said that she wasn’t crying, but trying to hide her laughter.
Neither Cohen nor Lewis has confirmed Glanville’s explanation.
