Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence will be joining forces once again on the big screen in Serena, which just released its first trailer.

Cooper and Lawrence, who’ve previously acted alongside each other in Oscar-nominated hits Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle, are teaming up again in Serena. In the Depression-era period piece, Lawrence plays the titular character, the sharp and strong wife of George Pemberton, with whom she moves from Boston to North Carolina to build a timber empire. The simpatico couple’s empire, however, is threatened when it’s realized that Serena can’t bear children.

In the trailer for Serena that was released Friday, the soon-to-be newlyweds are shown meeting for the first time and quickly becoming partners in life and business. When the business is threatened, secrets – including George’s illegitimate son – are unearthed. A murder investigation then further drives the Pemberton’s towards desperation, possibly forcing them out of their business and into even shadier dealings.

Serena, based off of author Ron Rash’s novel of the same name, will premiere at The London Film Festival on Oct. 24. Susanne Bier directed the film from a script by Christopher Kyle. Also starring in the picture are Rhys Ifans, Sam Reid, Sean Harris, Toby Jones and Kim Bodnia.
