Brad Pitt To Skip ‘Voyage Of Time’ Premiere, Cites ‘Family Situation’ In Statement

Brad Pitt has opted to skip the premiere of Terrence Malick‘s new film Voyage of Time.

Pitt explained in a statement that he would not be making a red carpet appearance at the Voyage of Time premiere Wednesday. Though Pitt narrates the film about Earth’s origins, he is sitting out the premiere due to matters stemming from his impending divorce from Angelina Jolie.

“Terrence’s Voyage of Time is an incredibly beautiful and unique experiential IMAX film for children and families chronicling the birth of time,” Pitt said in a statement to Access Hollywood. “I’m very grateful to be part of such a fascinating and educational project, but I’m currently focused on my family situation and don’t want to distract attention away from this extraordinary film, which I encourage everyone to see.”

Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt last Monday, citing irreconcilable differences. Though Jolie had apparently filed for separation the week prior, Pitt was supposedly caught off guard by the divorce filing.

“I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the well-being of our kids,” Pitt had said in a statement to People. “I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time.”

It has been reported that Jolie was moved to file for divorce over an incident on a plane. Allegedly, a drunken Pitt was verbally abusive towards their son Maddox and may have lunged at him. The FBI has said that they are looking into the claims to determine whether or not an investigation should be opened.

Pitt and Jolie were married in 2014. They have been together since 2004 and have six children.
