Brad Pitt has given the public some personal information following the fall of his five-year marriage to Angelina Jolie.

“I think all our hearts are broken,” he told British GQ. “I always felt very alone in my life, alone growing up as a kid, alone even out here, and it’s really not till recently that I have had a greater embrace of my friends and family.”

Pitt gave up alcohol in 2016 after he spent 18 months attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, and took up its principle of steering away from substances that negatively affected him.

“I had a really cool men’s group here that was really private and selective, so it was safe,” he explained. “Because I’d seen things of other people who had been recorded while they were spilling their guts, and that’s just atrocious to me.”

He also admitted he smoked marijuana daily back in the day. “I spent most of the ’90s hiding out and smoking pot,” he said in 2019. “I was too uncomfortable with all the attention.”

He has since rid himself of substances that can alter the mind, including cigarettes, which he replaced with nicotine gum.

“I don’t have that ability to do just one or two a day,” he said of his past smoking habit. “It’s not in my makeup. I’m all in. And I’m going to drive into the ground. I’ve lost my privileges.”

Pitt and Jolie’s relationship followed after his split from Jennifer Aniston in 2005. In 2006, Jolie announced she was pregnant with their first child together, Shiloh. Two years later they welcomed twins Knox and Vivienne.

The couple married at a private ceremony in France in 2014, but Jolie filed for divorce in 2016, and the request was completed three years later.

The couple also adopted children, Maddox, 20, Pax, `18 and Zahara, 17.

He is now romantically involved with Nicole Poturalski, a German model. He also has won an Oscar for his role in Quentin Tarantino‘s Once Upon A Time in Hollywood.
