Bose SoundLink Revolve & SoundLink Revolve+ Review: Louder Than You’d Expect

Bose is a well-known brand for those who are looking to enhance their sound systems. Their latest device, the Bose SoundLink Revolve and SoundLink Revolve+, are billed as “true 360°” Bluetooth speakers. Built to emit high-quality acoustic ambience in every direction, they’re worth a look if you’re eager to add some flair to your setup.

Bose’s latest cylinder-shaped inventions come in two varieties, with the Revolve+ being the more sizable model. Consequentially, it’s also heavier. Furthermore, the Revolve+ has the capacity to play louder audio and it will perform for an additional four hours, given its stronger battery. Ultimately, if you can spare the extra funds, the Revolve+ has the edge.

However, both are still cut from the same cloth, and they both supply reasonably sized rooms with acoustic joy. Their components are sturdy, meaning they can suffer through accidents while maintaining their composure. Bose adds how the shock-resistant soft materials they were built with will endure unforeseen accidents. Plus, both models are aesthetically pleasing, and the Bluetooth speakers are water-resistant.

The Revolves are compatible with smartphones, with Siri and Google Now both being recognized. A button press will allow you to give your commands verbally. Plus, both Revolves work with Bose’s own Connect app, which offers multiple benefits. Using this app can allow you to synchronize two speakers with two configurations: Party Mode and Stereo Mode.

Another plus offered by the Revolves are their portability. They can work outdoors and, thanks to their handles, they’ll easily join you in your adventures. But, as CNET’s reviewer noted, the ideal placement for the Revolves would be near a wall, to help accentuate the bass.

An optional charging cradle, while not necessary, does help the aural output, although CNET’s reviewer isn’t sure it’s an easily discernible difference. Furthermore, he added how the Revolve+ sounds great in relation to other wireless Bluetooth speakers, but those with acute taste may prefer other options. Regardless, he concludes with his belief that for most people, the Revolve+ should match expectations. Plus, he’d recommend the larger model over the standard SoundLink Revolve.

The Bose SoundLink Revolve and SoundLink Revolve+ cost $199.95 and $299.95, respectively. Both sizes come in two different colors: Triple Black and Tux Gray. Moreover, their charging cradle costs $29.95 and solely comes in the former coloration.
