Border Czar Tom Homan Asks Justice Dept. If Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Broke The Law By Helping Migrants Evade ICE

Trump Administration border czar Tom Homan asked the Department of Justice if Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez‘s (D-New York) efforts to help illegal immigrants avoid authorities impeded Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) operations and broke the law.

Homan, who was named the Donald Trump‘s border czar in November 2024, appeared on the Fox News show, The Ingraham Angle. During his appearance on the show, the host Laura Ingraham told him that Ocasio-Cortez put “out a webinar” to advise illegal immigrants on avoiding trouble.

“I sent an email today to the deputy attorney general,” Homan stated. “At what level is that impediment? Is that an impediment? If so, what are we going to do about it? Is [Ocasio-Cortez] crossing the line?”

“So, I’m working with the Department of Justice and finding out where is that line that they cross,” he added. “So, maybe AOC’s gonna be in trouble now.”

The New York congresswoman slammed Homan on Bluesky for his comments about her.

“‘Maybe she’s going to be in Trouble now,'” she wrote in the caption of a Bluesky post. “Maybe he can learn to read. The Constitution would be a good place to start.”

During an appearance on the Fox News show America’s Newsroom, Homan doubled down on his comments.

“Do you believe [Ocasio-Cortez] is breaking the law,” the show’s co-anchor Bill Hemmer asked the border czar.

“I’ll leave it up to [the] DOJ,” he answered.

“What I find disturbing is any member of Congress wants to educate people how to evade law enforcement,” he said. “You can claim you’re educating those constitutional rights, OK, you can keep that claim. But what she is, in fact, doing is telling people, ‘Don’t open the door, hide in your home, don’t talk to ICE.'”

“We’re talking about people who are in the country illegally – committed a crime,” the border czar noted. “They are public safety threats, and they have been convicted of [a] serious crime, and they’ve been ordered [to be] removed by [a] federal judge.

“So, it’s like AOC and others don’t want ICE to enforce the laws that they enacted,” he asserted. “She’s a member of Congress. Let us enforce laws that you enacted. That’s what we’re supposed to do.”

Last month, Homan claimed that people cannot “find another state, federal, or local facility with higher detention standards than ICE.”

In early February, the border czar said the Trump Administration makes “no apologies” for the recent ICE raids.
