Bonnie Gooch, 78, Found Dead After Committing Her Third Bank Robbery

An elderly woman from Missouri who was facing charges for her third bank robbery was found dead.

Bonnie Gooch was known to have a history of committing various bank robberies and was supposed to appear in court on July 26. When she did not attend her trial date, the Pleasant Valley Police Department went to the 78-year-old’s home to serve her an arrest warrant.

When they arrived at her house, officers knocked on the door and found it to be unlocked as it opened. They continued to enter and found her body in a bedroom. The body was later formally identified by the forensics team after they examined it, and she was positively identified as Gooch. They shared that they do not believe foul play was involved, but did not announce the cause of death.

Gooch made headlines back in April after officers arrested her for attempting to rob a Pleasant Hill bank.

During this alleged bank heist, she told the teller, “Thank you sorry I didn’t mean to scare you,” via a note and additionally demanded “13,000 small bills.” She was caught on surveillance cameras banging on the counters and telling the teller to hurry up.

The Goppert Financial Bank called 911 on April 5 and received Gooch’s description and vehicle while driving to the scene of the crime. They located her while conducting a traffic stop and she was taken into custody.

Prosecutors noted that Gooch smelled like alcohol when they stopped her car. They also stated that there was cash on the floor of her vehicle.

This is not the first time Gooch has been arrested for a bank robbery. In 2020, she was convicted of robbing a bank in Lee’s Summit. She did not go to prison but was on supervised probation until November 2021. In 1997, she was also convicted of a bank robbery in California.
