Bodycam Footage Of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Winner Tyra Sanchez’s Arrest Released

James Ross, who won RuPaul’s Drag Race as Tyra Sanchez, was arrested last month in Florida. This week, bodycam from the arresting officers was released.

The 35-year-old, whose birth name is James William Ross IV, joined the drag competition in 2010 and won $25,000 in addition to winning the crown. 

The Florida native was allegedly charged with assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest without violence. The incident began with a minor car crash on the road, and when law enforcement arrived at the scene, Ross exited his car and began verbally harassing an officer. 

The officers tried to calm the former drag queen down, but he resisted the attempt and allegedly threatened to shoot an officer. Shortly after, he tried to obtain something from his car and, when that failed, started running away on foot. He was then caught and arrested. 

“If you tase me, I will shoot the f—, I promise you,” Ross said in the video.

On June 10, Ross shared a picture of himself over the weekend at his son’s high school graduation.

“I’m not in jail,” he wrote. “I actually just woke up after exhaustion from my trip to Boston where I attended my son’s high school graduation.”

Today, Ross is better known as King Tyra on his OnlyFans account. He retired from his Tyra Sanchez character in 2020 and now prefers to use the pronouns he/him. 

In January this year, he announced his Club Tyra tour and has dates set all the way to September. 

“I am so happy that I get to entertain each of you and I am thrilled to show you the new looks I have been creating for Tyra,” Ross wrote in his announcement. “For King Tyra is the baddest in the land, it’s time we remember why this king wears a crown.
