Fitness model Geoffrey Tracy was sentenced to eight years behind bars for stabbing his roommate 16 times in 2018.
Tracy appeared for sentencing in a New York court Tuesday after a New York State Supreme Court found him guilty of assault in the first degree and attempted assault in the second degree last month.
In August 2018, the 31-year-old moved to New York City after he was hired to dance at nightclubs by an event promoter, who arranged for his friend, Gregory Kanczes, to host Tracy in his apartment. Tracy apparently argued with the host over the course of his stay and texted friends he was going to choke Kanczes.

At one point during his stay, Tracy accused Kanczes of going through his belongings and came at him with a kitchen knife. He followed him through the building and proceeded to stab the victim in the chest, neck, torso, arms and back.
Tracy pled not guilty at his arraignment and initially claimed he was acting in self-defense.
“The guy tried to make moves on me, I told him no, then he said he’d shoot me so I had to defend myself,” he told police.
Part of the incident was recorded on Tracy’s cell phone, and the footage was cited as evidence in Tuesday’s trial.
Justice Curtis Farber said he was disturbed by the clip.
“The video speaks for itself,” the judge said. “It captures exactly what happened in all its horror. It had an unarmed man in his underwear being pursued at knife point out of his house.”
The victim did not appear in court, but the prosecutor read his impact statement aloud.
“Your attack has left me with many scars that has lessened my self-image and made me feel less attractive to others I may be interested in,” Kanczes’ statement said. “I am no longer able to move through the city with the ease I had prior to your assault. I feel like an easier target for criminals when in public and must plan my trips based upon how long I think I can move without pain and further injury.”
A 2022 statement from Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg Jr. said the violence would not be accepted.
“I hope the victim can continue to recover from his serious wounds and take a measure of comfort in the justice delivered from this verdict,” Bragg said.
