Cleotha Abston, 38, was arrested and charged with Fletcher’s kidnapping on Sunday. Evidence linking Abston to the crime apparently includes witness reports that Abston was seen cleaning the dark GMC Terrain that detectives believe was used to kidnap Fletcher, and a DNA match to Abston found on sandals recovered near the suspected kidnapping.
Fletcher’s family had offered a $500,000 reward for information leading to her safe return. Her significant inheritance comes from her grandfather Joseph Orgill III’s hardware supply company, which has billions in revenue.
Abston is set to make an appearance in court on Tuesday, after being hit with a $500,000 bond on Sunday.
His charges are currently aggravated kidnapping and tampering with evidence. It was also revealed that Abston had spent 22 years in prison after kidnapping the lawyer Kember Durand in the year 2000 when he was just 16.
