‘Bob’s Burgers’ Actor Jay Johnston Charged For Role January 6 U.S. Capitol Riot
Bob’s Burgers actor Jay Johnston was charged for his actions in connection to the January 6 riots.
He is currently facing charges for misdemeanor offenses and a felony of obstruction of officers during civil disorder.
A tweet was sent out by the FBI Twitter account looking for someone to identify Johnston.
People in the comments responded to the pictures identifying Johnston as the man in the photos.
So far 1,000 people have been arrested in connection to the Capitol riots, and the FBI is continuing to search for more people who were involved.
According to documents from the court, Johnston “assisted at least three other rioters by pouring water on the rioters’ faces” after he entered through the western tunnel of the Capitol. He continued on to steal a police shield to battle the police with other rioters.
The FBI was able to get evidence against Johnston through three of Johnston’s associates. The associates confirmed Johnston to be the man in the pictures and one of them even showed the FBI a text message from Johnston where he admitted to being in the Capitol riots.
In the messages, Johnston stated, “The news has presented it as an attack. It actually wasn’t. Thought it kind of turned into that. It was a mess. Got maced and tear gassed and I found it quite untastic.”
According to the FBI, Johnston flew on January 4 to Washington and flew on January 7 back home to Los Angeles.
