Former The Price Is Right host Bob Barker suffered gashes on his head after taking a nasty fall near his Hollywood Hills home yesterday.
Los Angeles Police Department officers witnessed the fall at the 1800 block of Outpost Drive in the Hollywood Hills neighborhood and immediately called in an ambulance to have Barker rushed to a hospital. Barker, 91, was treated for his injuries at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and eventually released where he is currently recovering at home. According to publicist Henri Bollinger, Barker received stitches for his head injuries but managed to walk on his own out of the hospital.
Barker had hosted the longtime The Price Is Right telecast from 1972 to 2007, marking it the longest daytime game show program in North America history. Previously, he had a stint at another game show Truth Or Consequences from 1956 to 1972. The idea of the popular game show mixed up typical quiz elements of game shows with stunts that were either wacky or embarrassing to the contestant. A notable movie role for Barker was in 1996’s Happy Gilmore, where he played himself and got into a brawl with lead actor Adam Sandler‘s character of the same name.
