On Wednesday, actor Steve Buscemi was attacked on a street in New York City. Police were called to Kips Bay, Manhattan, around noon after an unidentified man punched Buscemi in the face. The attack was seemingly unprovoked.

The Boardwalk Empire star suffered bruising and swelling in his face and bleeding in his left eye. Buscemi was treated for his injuries at the nearby Bellevue Hospital. Surveillance footage was able to capture images of the alleged assailant. Authorities released photos of a man with a gray beard wearing a blue t-shirt, black cap, black sweatpants and sneakers. Police are still searching for the suspect.

Buscemi’s publicist released a statement after the attack. “Steve Buscemi was assaulted in Midtown Manhattan, another victim of a random act of violence in the city,” the statement read. “He is ok and appreciates everyone’s well wishes, though incredibly sad for everyone that this has happened to him while also walking the streets of New York.”

In March, Buscemi’s Boardwalk Empire co-star Michael Stuhlbarg was also attacked in New York City. Stuhlbarg was taking a walk in Central Park at 7:45 p.m. when a 27-year-old homeless man, Xavier Israel, struck Stuhlbarg in the back of the head with a rock. Authorities arrested Israel after Stuhlbarg chased him down.
