Blue Ivy Carter, eldest daughter to Beyoncé and Jay-Z, won her first Grammy Award on Sunday during the Grammy Premiere ceremony earlier the the day before her mother won at the live, televised show. The nine-year-old Blue Ivy won a trophy for Best Music Video for “Brown Girl Skin” from the 2019 album The Lion King: The Gift.
She is the second youngest artist to win a Grammy after Leah Peasall won album of the year for O Brother, Where Art Thou in 2002 when she was 8.
Her mother, Beyoncé made Grammy history on Sunday night when she broke the record for most wins by any artist after she won two Grammys, making a total of 28 Grammy Awards in her collection. While accepting for Best R&B Performance for “Black Parade,” Beyoncé congratulated her daughter in her acceptance speech.
“I know my daughter is watching, two daughters and my son,” she said. “Blue, congratulations, you won a Grammy tonight. I’m so proud of you. I’m honored to be your mommy, all of your mommies. You are all my babies.”
