Blue Ivy Carter got into a bidding war over a pair of Lorraine Schwartz diamond earrings previously worn by her mother, Beyonce, last week at a charity gala.
As auctioneer KeKe Palmer was wrapping up the bidding at $80,000, videos posted on Instagram show Carter raising her paddle to a roar of laughter.

Carter was ultimately outbid at $105,000 by Mielle Organics CEO Monique Rodrigeuz and her husband.
“My husband is very competitive, especially when it comes down to his wife!!!” Rodriguez wrote on Instagram.
Carter has a history of bidding at her grandmother’s charity gala. In 2018, the 6-year-old raised her hand twice to bid on an acrylic painting, first offering $17,000 and then $19,000. Carter ultimately was outbid by Tyler Perry.
The gala was the 5th annual Wearable Art Gala hosted by Beyonce’s mother, Tina Knowles Lawson, and her husband, Richard Lawson.
The gala is a fundraiser for the Where Art Can Occur (WACO) Theater Center, an organization founded by the Lawsons that supports artistic and youth mentorship programs.
“As we continue to navigate the setbacks of the pandemic, we are excited for the opportunity to gather
again in person and garner support for the artists, audiences and young people that our work serves and
will continue to serve,” said Richard Lawson.
The theme for this year’s gala was “Step Into Harlem Nights.” Meant to bring Harlem to Los Angeles, the event offered immersive experiences transforming the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica into speakeasies, ballrooms, jazz clubs and theaters.
“I have always had this dream to bring the energy, tastes and sounds of Harlem in the 1920s to 50s to
our gala. From the fashion and the food, to the art, cars and supper clubs—on this night, people will be
taken back in time to experience and be inspired by it all… today—in 2022,” said Tina Knowles Lawson.
Honorees included actress Angela Bassett and artist Mark Bradford. Other notable attendees included Issa Rae, Quinta Brunson and Kelly Rowland.
