Blake Shelton isn't letting his newfound stardom from hosting NBC's surprise hit show The Voice along with Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green and Christina Aguilera go to waste. The country sensation, who married singer Miranda Lambert in May, took to the stage this weekend at the Midland County Fair, where he had more than music to share.
"You're supposed to raise hell when you come to a concert," he told the adoring audience. He belted out a cover of George Strait's "All My Exes Live in Texas" after sharing why the song was close to his heart. Shelton admitted that the only reason he got into the music scene a dacade ago was "to meet women." He left a trail of broken hearts throughout the state before meeting his newlywed bride. But amid all that lost love, Shelton found his calling. "Singing country music, that's what I like to do," he told the audience.
In between singing a mixture of covers and original songs, Shelton shared stories about his childhood growing up in Oklahoma, talking about his family and, of course, meeting Lambert. The most notable difference between his life now and his life then? "I'm rich!" he exlaimed to peals of laughter. Shelton will have more stories to share as he continues his tour in 16 more cities across the country.
