Blake Lively and Lieghton Meester have said that they are ready for a Gossip Girl reunion.
Lively, who played Serena Van Der Woodsen, and Meester, who played Blair Waldorf, discussed the possibility of a reboot in a Vanity Fair interview on Wednesday. “Of course [I’d be interested],” Lively, 30, said. “I’m open to anything that’s good, that’s interesting, and that sort of feels necessary… I imagine we all would [consider it]. I can’t speak for everyone else, but we all owe so much to this show, and I think that it would be silly not to acknowledge that.”
Meester, 31, acknowledged that returning to the CW show was on the table, but also expressed hesitation. “Yeah, I don’t really hear [about] that,” she shared. “I guess I hear that in fits and starts here and there, but it’s hard to say. If everyone was into it and the timing was right, you know? I don’t want to say, ‘No, never…'”
The actresses starred opposite one another on the show from 2007-2012. In a separate interview in April of this year, Lively talked less excitedly about the prospect of a return to TV. “Would I want to do seven years of the show? No, because it’s hard work and I’ve got my babies, and I don’t want to be away from them that much,” the actress told Variety. She shares daughters James and Ines with husband Ryan Reynolds. “I’ve just learned in life you never say never,” she qualified. “I’m looking to do something that I haven’t done yet, not something that I did. But would I do that? Who knows – if it was good, if it made sense.”
Gossip Girl also starred Ed Westwick as Chuck Bass, Penn Badgley as Dan Humphrey, and Chace Crawford as Nate Archibald. The series is celebrating its 10th premiere anniversary on Sept. 19.
