Blake Lively has been the queen of the Cannes Film Festival red carpet, but she stepped in some hot water earlier this week with a caption on a photo of her at the Cafe Society premiere.

Blake Lively’s Instagram Controversy

Lively took to Instagram Wednesday with a post that featured a front and back shot of her Cafe Society premiere look, which featured a skintight gold Atelier Versace gown. She captioned the post with an oft-quoted lyric from Sir Mix-a-lot’s song “Baby Got Back,” – “L.A. face with an Oakland booty.”

Using the lyric, Lively was making a quip about her glamorous hair and makeup and the size of her backside. However, some on Twitter – who may or may not have gotten the song reference – slammed the actress.

Despite the backlash, Lively has kept the Instagram post up. In a pair of successive posts, Lively has uploaded pictures of two more Cannes looks with snippets of song lyrics, which could be her way of responding to the controversy.

“Bibbidi bobbidi bling,” she wrote, quoting a tune from Cinderella for a close-up of her Oscar de la Renta clutch and Lorraine Schwartz jewels.

Lively then quoted “Let It Go,” for a snap of her intricate Lorraine Schwartz piece that she wore to another red carpet event. “Not a footprint to be seen…,” Lively wrote.

Lively, who probably figures its a safer bet for her to quote Disney lyrics, is in Cannes to support Cafe Society in which she stars alongside Jesse Eisenberg, Kristen Stewart and Steve Carrell.
