Although the story takes place in a distant future, the release of the movie Blade Runner 2049 is tantalizingly close. The newest trailer for the Ridley Scott sequel hit the internet early Monday morning and has audiences more ready than ever for the film’s October release.

‘Blade Runner 2049’ Newest Trailer

While the teaser and the first official trailer gave fans a glimpse into the visuals and basic outline of the movie, the newest trailer of Blade Runner 2049 shows a little more detail about the plot of the film.

The trailer begins with a fight between Ryan Gosling‘s Officer K and Dave Bautista‘s character. The fight sends the two characters through a wall, a possible allusion to one of the most pivotal scenes from the original Blade Runner (1982).

In the way of the plot, Officer K’s allegiance becomes a little more clear in the latest trailer. He seems to be more on the side of Deckard (Harrison Ford) than of his employer, Robin Wright‘s character.

One of the biggest questions concerning the original was whether or not Deckard, a cop tasked with hunting down replicants, was himself a replicant. Although the trailer doesn’t say exactly, Ford’s character does share that “we were being hunted.” His choice of words could suggest that he was also being hunted because of his man-made genetic make up.

Directed by Denis Villeneuve (Arrival), Blade Runner 2049 promises to be a visually stunning film. The newest trailer, in which more of a desolate Los Angeles is revealed, only further cements this promise.

Blade Runner 2049 hits theaters on October 6. Watch the trailer below.
