Ozzy Osbourne has revealed that Black Sabbath will not be returning to the studio to record new music. “It’s the end of Sabbath, believe me,” he told The Times Picayune, in an interview at Voodoo Fest 2015 in New Orleans, just before taking the stage for a solo performance.
The iconic English heavy metal band’s, The End Tour, which kicks off Jan. 20 in Omaha, Neb., really will be the end, meaning fans hoping for a follow-up to the group’s 2013, chart-topping and Grammy-winning, “13” will be left disappointed. The album regenerated critical and commercial interest in the group and was their first album to hit number one on the Billboard Hot 200 chart and their first U.K. number one album in 43 years.
“In December, I’ll be f——‘ 68 and I think it’s time to call it the end of the day. I’m not saying I won’t get on stage with Geezer or Tony [Iommi] or any of them some time, but officially we’re going to be done,” Osbourne said.
“I don’t want it to dwindle and dwindle and play just for the sake of making another f——‘ sack full of cash. So it’s time, and then I’ll go back to doing my own thing,” he continued, promising that, while he might be done where Sabbath is concerned, he won’t be retiring completely.
