‘Black Panther’ Star Letitia Wright Hospitalized After Stunt Incident On Set of Sequel

Letitia Wright was sent to the hospital after sustaining injuries while filming a stunt. Wright will star in the upcoming movie Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Wright sustained the injuries during a night-time session in Boston.

“Letitia Wright sustained minor injuries today while filming a stunt for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. She is currently receiving care in a local hospital and is expected to be released soon,” a Marvel representative said.

Wright was released from the hospital on Thursday.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is the sequel to Black Panther, which starred the late Chadwick Boseman. The original film was released in February 2018. Ryan Coogler will act as the director of the film. Coogler also shares writing responsibilities with Joe Robert Cole. Aside from Wright, the film will feature Lupita Nyong’oDanai GuriraMartin FreemanWinston DukeAngela Basset and others. The film is currently set for a July 2022 release.

Wright will play Shuri, who is the sister of T’challa. T’challa, played by Boseman, was the Black Panther superhero in previous films. In the first film, she mainly worked on the technological side of Wakanda and did not engage in combat often. She will carry a more major role in the film after Boseman’s recent, tragic passing.

Wright, 27, was born in Guyana, before moving to London at seven years old. She has received recognition for multiple acting roles throughout the years. She was first nominated for an Emmy in 2018 for her role on Black Mirror as a supporting actress. She later won an NAACP Image Award in 2018 for Outstanding Breakthrough Performance in a Motion Picture after the release of Black Panther. She was also handed the rising star award by the British Academy Film Awards.
