Ryan Coogler To Direct 'Black Panther' Film
The Black Panther soundtrack hit number one on the Billboard 200 Top 10.
The soundtrack was a mix of various artist including SZA, 2 Chainz, Khalid, Travis Scott, The Weeknd and Kendrick Lamar, who was on five of the 14 songs.
Black Panther didn’t just make it to number one for the music – the movie made $192 million at the box office, setting the record for the fifth largest three-day domestic opening in history. The Black Panther sound track is the second sound track to be at the top of the charts this year, following The Greatest Showman.
Previous movie chart toppers were Suicide Squad, Fifty Shades Darker and Descendants.
The album was produced by K-Dot and Top Dawg Entertainment’s CEO Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith. According to Rap Up, online streams helped push the soundtrack to the number one spot. The album reached 83,000 “streaming equivalent units,” which equates to 138.9 million on-demand streams.
