Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker seems to believe that, at least right now, truth is stranger than fiction.
Brooker confirmed that he isn’t working on season six of the hit Netflix series because life during the current COVID-19 pandemic is depressing enough.
“At the moment, I don’t know what stomach there would be for stories about societies falling apart, so I’m not working away on any of those [Black Mirror episodes],” he told the Radio Times, a British magazine. He said that he is working on things though, but wasn’t sure what he was allowed to talk about.
He continued, “I’m sort of keen to revisit my comic skill set, so I’ve been writing scripts aimed at making myself laugh.”
Black Mirror has not had new episodes since the premiere of season five in June 2019.
