Bishop Lamor Whitehead Robbed Of $400,000 In Jewelry While Livestreamed During Church Service

It was a shocking day for worshippers and Bishop Lamor Whitehead, who was robbed at gunpoint in his Canarsie, Brooklyn church in the middle of a service that was being streamed online.

The robbery occurred around 11:15 a.m. when three masked assailants entered the Leaders of Tomorrow International Ministries. Sounds of shock and fear are heard in the background of the sermon video, and Whitehead quickly complied with the robbers and lays down on the ground saying “all right’ several times.

Two robbers both wearing black hoodies and face masks appeared in the live stream video, both crossing to where the Bishop is lying to the right of the frame with one briefly crouching over Whitehead. One is heard telling over a thousand churchgoers at the service not to move.

As they went to leave, one robber dropped a ring or some other accessory that clatters loudly on the stage, and he stooped over to pick it up. Police say that the $400,000 of stolen items accounted for jewelry worn by Whitehead, his wife and others in the church audience.

Thankfully, no one was harmed in the incident, and no suspects have been arrested at this time. Whitehead told CBS New York the robbers took “my bishop’s ring, my wedding band and took off my bishop’s chain, and then I had chains underneath my robe and he started tapping my neck … They watched and they knew that I have other jewelry.”

The men were last seen fleeing the scene in a white Mercedes, and according to the pastor’s statements, the police already have a potential license plate number of the vehicle.
