Bindi Irwin celebrated her 17th birthday on Thursday and received a sweet birthday message from her boyfriend, Chandler Powell.

Powell, an 18-year-old professional wakeboarder, was, unfortunately, not able to celebrate with Irwin, daughter of Steve Irwin. Instead, he sent her a touching Instagram message, sharing a cute picture of the cute couple with the caption, “Happy birthday to this gorgeous girl! Feel very blessed to have you in my life. Counting down the days until I get to see you again!”

A few weeks ago, Irwin shared a photo of herself standing with Powell to announce he had joined her Wildlife Warriors team. Irwin works closely with the Australia Zoo, and is an advocate for the Wildlife Warriors, a group created by her father, Steve and her mother Terri Irwin. “Our global ambassadors are changing the world and making a huge difference to spread the message of conservation. We must work together to create a beautiful world for the generations to come,” Irwin wrote on Instagram.

Irwin herself took some time out from her birthday celebrations to thank all her fans and supporters. “I have the most beautiful souls in my life supporting me and helping me to follow my dreams. I love them more than I can ever express in words. To my family, friends and the people who will forever have a place in my heart, thank you for everything. For changing my life and making me the person I am today. You mean so much to me,” she wrote.
