Billy Joel has revealed that he will perform a concert at Pittsburgh’s PNC Park this coming summer.
Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto, Pittsburgh Pirates president Frank Coonelly and promoter Live Nation announced Billy Joel’s July 1 concert Thursday, reported the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. It will be Joel’s first stadium concert in Pittsburgh in more than 20 years.
The “Only the Good Die Young” singer last played in the Pennsylvanian city in February 2014 at the Consol Energy Center. But, the last time he played at a stadium in the metropolis was back in August 1994, when he and Elton John performed at Three Rivers.
Over the last few years, Joel has enjoyed a residency at New York City’s Madison Square Garden. Per the terms of the residency, the singer plays a monthly concert.
In May, Joel will head across the country to play at Petco Park in San Diego, marking the only other stadium tour on the schedule for him this year.
Tickets for Joel’s PNC Park concert go on sale Jan. 22 at 10 a.m. EST. They can be purchased through the Pirates website or on Live Nation. American Express Card Members can purchase tickets before they become available to the general public starting Monday, Jan. 18.
