Billionaire Bill Gates Says Daughter Phoebe Had To Sever Ties With Friends Who Spread Conspiracy Theories About Him
Bill Gates, the billionaire philanthropist and Microsoft co-founder, has been exploring new projects and business ventures while making the most of his time at his current stage of life.
“I get to control my schedule,” Gates told People. “So if I’m not having mostly good days, that’s strange. Unlike in my 20s, I do take time off. I go to the Olympics. I play a lot of tennis. I get to read a lot of books.”
Gates, 68, touched on his upcoming docuseries with his daughter, 21-year-old Phoebe Gates.
“It’s fun to see her energy,” Gates remarked about his Stanford graduate daughter.
Gates said Pheobe had to sever ties with people in her life due to baseless conspiracy theories surrounding himself, an issue Gates calls an “unresolved problem.”
Gates’s current net worth is roughly $153 billion, said he should be taxed more.
“I believe that the U.S. tax system should be more progressive and that people like myself, even though I paid over $10 billion in taxes, I probably should have paid three times as much, or some people would say even more,” said Gates.
Gates has given away a significant portion of his fortune to charity through his Gates Foundation.
Gates’ Netflix docuseries What’s Next? The Future with Bill Gates focuses on the rise of artificial intelligence, among other critical social issues. A central theme of the docuseries is questioning the concept of learning, which has played an integral part in important decisions throughout Gates’ career.
“I’m deeply curious about a lot of things,” Gates said.
Phoebe recently made headlines when she went public with her relationship with Paul McCartney‘s grandson.
What’s Next? The Future with Bill Gates is set to be released on Netflix on Sept. 18.
