Bill Maher Addresses Roseanne Barr Scandal & Trump’s Meeting With Kim Kardashian [VIDEO]

Real Time with Bill Maher host Bill Maher seriously addressed the Roseanne Barr Twitter scandal, and even spoke on his “friend’s” multiple personality disorder on Friday. Later, he lightened the mood with jokes about President Donald Trump‘s meeting with Kim Kardashian West on prison reform.

In reflecting on the Twitter incident, Maher said Barr’s life has dramatically changed since her tweet regarding President Obama‘s former advisor Valerie Jarrett.

“Now, Roseanne will always be my friend but her world came crashing down this week with a series of tweets she put out on Tuesday that were so full of racism, conspiracy theories and personal attacks they were described as abhorrent bordering on presidential,” Maher said.

Then, he touched on her multiple personality disorder, which she revealed to the public in 1994.

“My friend Roseanne admitted that she had been admitted to a mental institution. She has said she has multiple personalities and, unfortunately, one of them is quite a racist,” Maher said. “It is not a mystery to me that a person with a mental illness could be taken in by a party that has lost its mind.”

Later on Friday’s show, Maher discussed Trump’s meeting with Kardashian West at the White House. He said, “there’s a picture of it you can find online if you Google ‘When America Died.’”

“But if you think about it, it was probably a good meeting,” Maher added. “They have a lot in common. They both come from reality TV, they both have their own brands and they both screwed a lot of black people.”

In response to the Barr Twitter incident, President Trump sought an apology from ABC in a tweet that said, “Bob Iger of ABC called Valerie Jarrett to let her know that ‘ABC does not tolerate comments like those’ made by Roseanne Barr. Gee, he never called President Donald J. Trump to apologize for the HORRIBLE statements made and said about me on ABC. Maybe I just didn’t get the call?”

Maher said Trump never received an apology “because no one at ABC ever called you an ape, you’re thinking of me.”

In the past, Maher has called Trump an orangutan, but he explained how this was different from Barr’s comment likening Jarrett to an ape.

Maher said, “one, Trump is an orangutan” and “two, white people have not been subjected to racist trope comparing them to apes for hundreds of years.”
