Melinda Gates, 60, former wife of Bill Gates, appears to have a new beau, according to photos that show her holding hands with a man.
Gates was seen with Philip Vaughn on Wednesday morning when the couple was exiting a helicopter in New York City. The pair proceeded to enter a black SUV and speed away.
According to LinkedIn, Vaughn was an employee at Bill’s tech giant Microsoft for almost nine years. He is also the chairman and founder of the craft beer delivery service Tavour, founded in 2011.
Gates and Bill were married for 27 years before they announced their divorce in May 2021.
Three years later, Gates shared that she was open to the possibility of dating again. In November 2022 she was linked to Jon Du Pre briefly, but the romance was short-lived, according to Melinda’s publicist.
In an interview with Time, she explained her criteria for her future partner: “[I want] someone who’s open to learning and who’s vibrant, and who’s smart and somebody who challenges me and that I challenge.”
Also in the interview, Gates revealed that she and Gates were secretly separated long before they announced their divorce, and had been taking turns living in their previously shared home since the beginning of the quarantine in the Covid-19 pandemic.
She said, “I separated first before I made the full decision about a divorce…And to be able to do that in private while I’m still trying to take care of the kids, while still making certain decisions about how you’re going to disentangle your life—thank God.”
A long-time philanthropist, Gates is responsible for the world’s wealthiest charity foundation. The Gates Foundation has made sizable contributions to various charities around the world as it strives to combat global inequality, poverty, poor healthcare and more.
Last May, Gates and her ex Bill joined together to celebrate the graduation of their daughter, Jennifer, from Columbia University.
