Bill Cosby Arrest Warrant Issued For Alleged 2004 Assault Of Andrea Constand

The Bill Cosby sexual assault scandal isn’t going to die down any time soon, with news that an arrest warrant for the veteran entertainer has been issued for the alleged assault of Andrea Constand in 2004.

Bill Cosby Arrest Warrant Issued For Alleged 2004 Assault

Constand, a former Temple employee, alleges that Cosby drugged and sexually assaulted her at his Elkins Park, Penn., mansion in January 2004. She filed a civil suit against the star in 2005 when prosecutors opted not to file criminal charges.

Cosby swore under oath that he had consensual sexual contact with Constand, that “they began to pet (touching and kissing) and then he touched her bare breast and private parts.” He claims that Constand did not ask him to stop at any point.

Constand alleges that she was unknowingly drugged by Cosby with pills that left her incapacitated and unable to rebuff Cosby when he allegedly laid her on his couch and assaulted her.

Cosby settled that suit for undisclosed terms in 2006 but following the release of a deposition from the case last summer in which he admitted to giving quaaludes to women he wanted to have sex with, Montgomery County District Attorney-Elect Kevin Steele has now decided to press criminal charges.

“A prosecutor’s job is to follow the evidence wherever it leads and whenever it comes to light,” Steele said at a Wednesday press conference. “Upon examination of all the evidence, today we are able to seek justice on behalf of the victim.”

Constand has not commented on this development but one of her attorneys, Dolores Troiani, expressed gratitude on her behalf.

“Obviously we appreciate the expression of confidence in her,” Troiani said. “We’ll have to see what happens. We hope justice will be done. We will cooperate fully.”

Cosby was arraigned yesterday afternoon at Elkins Parks, Pennsylvania on a felony charge of aggravated indecent assault.

Over 50 women have now come forward accusing Cosby of sexual assault. If convicted in this case against Constand, Cosby could face five to ten years behind bars and a $25,000 fine.
