‘Big Brother’ Season 20 Episode 5 Recap: Steve Arienta Gets First Eviction, New HOH

On Thursday’s episode of Big Brother, the first player was evicted from the house after two weeks. Steve Arienta and Sam Bledsoe were nominated by Tyler Crispen, the first Head of Household (HOH) for the twentieth season.

Since Sam won a Big Brother app last week, she could be saved from eviction; however, host Julie Chen said she must win a live challenge to do so. Nonetheless, Sam tried to campaign in order to extend her stay in the house without having to use her special power so quickly. Tyler was in favor of saving Sam, hoping to have her join his Level Six alliance. Kaitlyn HermanSwaggy C Williams and Faysal Shafaat all told Steve he should be fine.

Another showmance is brewing – possibly a love triangle between Haleigh Broucher, Kaitlyn and Faysal. Both of the girls have been crushing on Faysal, who was voted the show’s least trending player last week. In the meantime, the Level Six alliance was trying to get Steve evicted without revealing their union. One member, Winston Hines, believed adding Kaitlyn to the team may tip the odds in their favor of eliminating Steve.

After spotting Haleigh and Faysal making out, Kaitlyn burst into tears and headed for Tyler’s bed. She then discloses that she must join Sam, since she feels as though she’s been left without a partner. Tyler rejoiced because this supports Level Six’s plan.

Sam received votes from Scottie Salton, Swaggy C, Bayleigh Dayton, Faysal, Haleigh and Rockstar Lantry to keep her in the house. On the other hand, Steve raked in supporting votes from JC MounduixRachel SwindlerKaycee ClarkAngela Rummans, Brett Robinson, Winston and Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn seemed to jump ship at the last minute, which still didn’t save Steve from getting evicted by a vote of seven to six.

The episode ended with a Head of Household competition, which previous HOH Tyler couldn’t participate in. In a game dubbed “Land the Job,” players had to shoot balls into the fictional city of San BROse. Each building had a salary listed, and the player who earned the most money won. Kaitlyn dominated the competition and will be the new HOH.

Additionally, Chen announced Sam the Robot and Kaycee’s Pinwheel of Doom are officially dead.
