‘Big Brother’ Season 20 Episode 3 Recap: Faysal Shafaat Trends, First Alliances Made

CBS’ Big Brother season 20 debuted earlier last week. On Thursday’s episode, Tyler Crispen nominated Sam Bledsoe and Steve Arienta for eviction for the sake of keeping things fair, since the two both fell during their first Head of Household (HOH) competition.

On Sunday’s episode, we see Steve wasn’t affected by Tyler’s nomination and wanted to prove to the house that he was unfazed. On the contrary, Sam was very upset and Tyler felt bad, telling her she wasn’t the target.

Tyler later went on to the patio and began crying, even drawing Steve’s sympathy. Meanwhile, Rockstar Lantry relayed a message from Sam the Robot, telling the other house members she would like to be visited individually in the storage room. Kaitlyn Herman made an effort to give Sam some tough love, but it ended with Sam making a sly remark about Kaitlyn’s hot tub scene with Faysal Shafaat.

We also began to see relationships forming, both friendly and romantic. Scottie Salton and Steve were hanging out on the patio together, which was an unexpected bond. Additionally, Chris “Swaggy C” Williams and Bayleigh Dayton got flirty with Bayleigh making fun of Swaggy C for nicknaming himself.

Upstairs in the HOH room, the first alliance was made. Level Six is a team comprised of Tyler, Angela RummansBrett RobinsonKaycee ClarkRachel Swindler and Winston Hines. Winston also told Angela she’s being targeted by the other side of the house. In the meantime, Bayleigh and Swaggy C were making out in bed. He dashed out of the room into the bathroom, telling himself that “showmances” usually lead to the male partner going home first. He doesn’t want their relationship to get in the way of his performance.

Sam entered the house as a human being, but moping around, of course. JC Mounduix was finally able to talk some sense into her. He opened her eyes by letting her know she’s moping in a situation that millions of people wished they were in.

About halfway through the episode, the house members discover buckets of slop in the kitchen. Since Tyler is the first HOH, he was designated to select the first four have-nots. Kaitlyn, Brett, Winston and Scottie foolishly volunteered, which ended in eating slop, only taking cold showers and sleeping in a three-foot satellite dish.

When Swaggy, Faysal and Brett are outside playing pool, Swaggy and Faysal began an alliance. However, Brett doesn’t commit because he’s already loyal to his Level Six alliance. When Brett tells his alliance this, they all shared laughter over Swaggy, saying he thinks he runs the house.

The other alliance, F.O.U.T.E. consists of Swaggy, Faysal, Kaitlyn, Rockstar and Haleigh Broucher.

Nearing the end of the show, we finally learn what’s up with the B.B. App store. The most trending house member will be given a special power and the least trending will receive a “crap app,” which can hurt their game. Each player can only receive one app per episode.

Faysal was named the least trending house guest, so he chose “Hamazon” for his Crap App, an interesting choice for a Muslim who doesn’t eat pork. He will be forced to immediately eat ham upon delivery. On the other hand, Sam was the most trending player. She chose the “Bonus Life” app, which allows her or another house member to be saved from eviction.
