‘Big Brother’ Season 19, Episode 36 Recap: Alex Evicted, Paul Wins Head Of Household

And then there were five. Last week’s episode of Big Brother ended with Josh as Head of Household, and ready to rock the boat in terms of his alliance with Paul, whom he no longer trusts.

BIG BROTHER RECAP

In the house, we appear to have a four-way alliance between Paul, Josh, Christmas, and Kevin, all making moves to evict Alex. Her first move is to get emotional with Josh and beg him to save her. She, meanwhile, believes that Paul is on her side, and funnily doesn’t want to jeopardize his chances of winning either. When Josh tells Christmas about the interaction, she threatens him with death (probably… hopefully… jokingly) if he falls for Alex’s shenanigans. When Josh asks if they’re still on board to be the final two, Christmas says she’s still deciding between him and Paul.

In the first challenge of the evening, Paul narrowly beats Alex for the veto power, and she is relieved because that means he will keep her safe. Right? Wrong. Paul pulls Alex aside and tries to explain to her that he won’t be using his veto. She calls him out on his BS, and we start to get an inkling that this could be Paul’s downfall. He’s made too many deals with too many people, and it’s worked up until now, but he seems to be underestimating the remaining players.

Kevin and Alex are on the chopping block at the end of the episode, with Paul already having said he wouldn’t use his veto. Christmas and Paul are the one’s voting with Josh entitled to the tie-breaker vote. The anonymous votes go 1-1, Kevin to Alex, which leaves us in disarray as we’re not sure what move Josh will make here as the Head of Household. But in the end, he tearfully goes with the original plans and tells Alex she is just too strong a competitor, and that she has to go. She maintains her composure, and goes straight to host Julie Chen about Paul’s manipulative game plan. Can he possibly recover from his web of lies, which he’s spread so thin?

Then we get to the next Head of Household competition. It’s a word game, where contestants have to fill in the blanks in recorded clips of what former houseguests have said. Julie fills in the blanks, and the remaining four have to guess whether it’s true or false. Of course, Paul wins. The next episode should be very interesting, to see which alliance Paul betrays next time as Head of Household.
