Big Brother returned with Aaryn Gries in her final moments as Head of Household and Howard Overby, Candice Stewart and Amanda Zuckerman on the block and in danger of eviction.
Spencer Clawson, who was able to take himself of the block after winning the veto competition, makes it his mission to save his best pal Howard and get Amanda out of the house instead. The team of two tries to pitch quiet guys Andy Heron and Judd Maguire on the merits of keeping Howard in the house and booting Amanda– claiming to be all-knowing about how the competition pans out if they don’t all stick together.
Candice, meanwhile, is steaming because she thinks Aaryn put her on the block due to prejudice. Little does she know it was Helen Kim’s gameplay – not Aaryn’s racism – that landed both African American contestants on the block. She tries to feel reassured that she won’t be going home when Spencer approaches her and says that they're all working towards the same goal – getting Amanda sent home. Spencer then goes on to have an intense conversation with Amanda, which is mostly filled with lies and partial threats.
During the live segment with Julie Chen, the contestants learn about Prince William and Kate Middleton’s baby boy Prince George. America learns that Jessie desperately misses her dog, as does Judd. Judd’s home life gets covered this week, as Big Brother showed the small town he grew up in with his amiable parents. His friend Jordon, sporting a bear shirt in Judd’s honor, and the local mayor appear to give their boy some support.
In her Final Say, Amanda admits that she’s not ready to leave the Big Brother house yet – because of the competition and boy toy McCrae Olson – and thanks GinaMarie Zimmerman. Candice thanks her friends and moms at home and states that she’s happy with what she’s accomplished during her time there. Howard, inspirational as always, encourages his fellow contestants to vote with their hearts, after telling them he loves him and thanking God.
Voting breakdown: Helen votes to evict Howard. Elissa Slater votes to evict Howard. Spencer votes to evict Candice. McCrae votes to evict Howard. Andy votes to evict Howard. Judd votes to evict Howard. GinaMarie votes to evict Howard. Jessie Kowalski votes to evict Howard.
Howard gets hugs all around from his castmates before sitting down with Julie for his exit interview. He admits that joining The Moving Company was probably bad for him strategically in the long run. Howard also admits that it was difficult to deal with the racism in the house week after week, and thanks Candice for helping him keep his calm and not expose his temper.
This week’s Head of Household competition was titled "Bull in a China Shop," which required them to stand onto a rolling log while holding onto a bull. Elissa nearly makes a quick exit but regains her footing, and the episode ends before the new HOH is crowned.
When Big Brother returns to CBS Sunday at 8/7c, who will take over from Aaryn as HOH, will Candice and Amanda be headed back to the block and will Helen continue to control the game?
