‘Big Brother 18’ TV Recap: Corey Uses The Veto

Sunday night’s Big Brother episode saw Tiffany and Natalie, later joined by Corey, being put on the block by Hoh Paulie and Roadkill winner Tiffany.

Sparks fly during the Roadkill Reveal, as shown in a scene that wasn’t aired on Sunday’s episode. After seeing Corey nominated, Paulie tells Tiffany that she won’t get lucky like last week and will be sent home. Tiffany taunts Paulie and claims that he is “scared of a girl” and “shaking in his boots”. Tiffany is the w o r s t, here’s why.

First, her retorts are so basic and have obviously been borrowed from the students she teaches. If you’re going to be cantankerous then at least be sassy and quick with your comebacks, girl. Second, she is constantly crying and playing the victim as opposed to taking responsibility for her volatile, irritable, and untrustworthy behavior (ain’t nobody got time for that). And third, no one talks to my zaddy Paulie like that. No. One.

Anyway~.

Following last Thursday’s eviction, Frank’s game was turned upside down after his alliance decided to vote out Bronte and instead keep his main target, Tiffany, in the game. Unsure of who he can trust, Frank, like the rat he is, begins to scurry around the house in an attempt to mend fences and rally troops on his side.

Cut to Da’Vonne eating potato chips on the couch.

Mama Da’s moment of zen and potato chips is interrupted by Frank the Wank who begins probing her for information. Although Da’Vonne deflects Frank’s obvious fishing for information, passerby Paul mistakes Da’Vonne and Frank’s conversation as confirmation that Da’Vonne is playing both sides of the house. All Da’Vonne was trying to do was eat her damn potato chips in peace and now her alliance is beginning to question her allegiance SMH.

Veto Competition

Players for the veto competition: Paulie, Corey, Tiffany, Natalie, Paul and Da’Vonne.

The veto competition is a puzzle in which the players have to move and stack scoops of ice cream to match the model for each round. The competition is played knock-out style, one v.s. one, until only one winner remains.

The competition plays out as follows. Corey knocks out Tiffany, Paul knocks out Natalie, Paulie knocks out Da’Vonne. With the three boys that are working together left, Paul convinces Corey to throw the competition so that they both will be safe for the week. Corey attempts to throw the competition but ends up beating Paul and Paulie anyway to win the Power of Veto.

Since Corey was the Road Kill nominee, Tiffany gets to select the replacement nominee if he uses the veto on himself. Da’Vonne cries after Corey wins the veto, because she is upset at herself for losing the competition. Da’s tears do not go unnoticed by Tiffany, who feels a distrust from Da’Vonne since if Da’Vonne trusted her she wouldn’t be worried about possibly being the replacement nominee.

Wanting to see where Tiffany’s head is at, Da’Vonne goes into the Have Not room to talk with her. Tiffany says she has no idea who she is putting up as a replacement and Da’Vonne says “alright” and goes to leave the room. Tiffany thinks her behavior is shady and tells James that she is considering putting Da up as a replacement.

Tiffany’s paranoia, reminiscent of her sister Vanessa’s, begins to spiral out of control about Da’Vonne as she tells Frank, Bridgette, and whoever else will listen that Da’Vonne is going up as the replacement nominee.

Veto Ceremony

Corey obviously uses the veto on himself because he would be a real dumbass if he didn’t, though judging by how slowly he talks, there was a good chance he wouldn’t use the veto. Tiffany, having her nominee remove himself from the block, selects Da’Vonne to be the replacement nominee.

My queen joins the remaining nominees on the block, sitting as far away from Tiffany as possible. After hugging Natalie, Da’Vonne flips her hair, whipping Tiffany with her braids (get her, Da’Vonne). At this point I am cackling at all the shade Mama Da is throwing at that witch Tiffany. The episode ends with Diary Room interviews from Tiffany and Da’Vonne, both confident the other will be voted out on eviction night. I am praying to the BB Gods (and Paulie because he’s bae) that Da’Vonne has the votes to stay this week and that the emotionally unstable Tiffany is sent packing.

Tune in tonight at 9 p.m/ ET for the live eviction and HoH competition.
