CBS has officially confirmed a Big Bang Theory called Young Sheldon, that will follow Jim Parsons‘ character Sheldon Cooper as a 9-year-old.
The show will follow the genius boy as he goes through high school (yes, at 9) in Texas. Parsons will narrate from his perspective as an adult. Sheldon will have “a very right-wing family, not used to this 10-year-old genius living in their midst,” says CBS executive Leslie Moonves. “It’s a terrific script and we have a terrific little kid.”
The lead will be taken on by Iain Armitage of Big Little Lies. Zoe Perry will play Sheldon’s mother Mary and Lance Barber will play his father.
Young Sheldon will appear a bit different from its predecessor, as it will be a shot in a single-camera format, as opposed to the classic multi-camera sitcom. Big Bang Theory creator Chuck Lorre is onboard as an executive producer along with Parsons.
The Big Bang Theory, on the other hand, may be ending after the current season 10, though rumors are out there that it may continue through a season 12.
The shooter was identified to be John R. Lyons, 24, of Westchester, Illinois.
