The Big Bang Theory’s production for its upcoming season has been put on pause due to unsettled contracts between the show’s main stars and Warner Bros. Television.
WBTV has confirmed that The Big Bang Theory’s production has been put on hold because of “ongoing contract negotiations,” reported CNN. As a result, the CBS sitcom’s eighth season, which was supposed to premiere Wednesday, has been postponed.
The actors that have yet to sign new contracts with WBTV are Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco, Johnny Galecki, Kunal Nayyar and Simon Helberg. Leads Parsons, Cuoco and Galecki are reportedly seeking to bump their per-episode pay from $325,000 to $1 million, according to The Hollywood Reporter. They also want a stake in backend profits. It’s unknown what Nayyar and Helberg are seeking.
Back in September, it was reported that newer Big Bang Theory castmembers Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch received a raise, going from $30,000 to $60,000 per episode with the possibility of getting $100,000 per episode in the future.
The Big Bang Theory has been viewers’ No. 1 comedy since the 2010-2011 season.
