President Joe Biden and Queen Elizabeth met on Sunday at Windsor Castle during Day 3 of the G-7 Summit.
Biden told reporters at the Heathrow Airport that the queen “was very gracious.” “She reminded me of my mother,” said Biden.
Biden is the 13th President to meet with Queen Elizabeth during her reign and the fifth President she has hosted at Windsor. Biden’s visit was also one of the Queen’s first public engagements since her husband Prince Philip died in April.
After meeting with the Queen on Sunday, Biden flew to Brussels on Monday to attend the 31st Summit of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), where he recommitted the U.S. to the transatlantic alliance.
