Disney star Christina Milian has defended Beyoncé Knowles and Jay-Z’s daughter, Blue Ivy, against the backlash she received for her outfit at the Mufasa premiere.
Mufasa, a live-action prequel to the 2019 remake of the beloved animation, held its premiere on Dec. 10 and is set to come out on Dec. 20.
Blue Ivy, 12, makes her on-screen debut in the film as Princess Kiara, Simba’s daughter in the 1998 animated prequel.
Asked her thoughts about the supposed “inappropriate” attire Blue Ivy wore on The Sherri Shepherd Show, Milian said right off the bat, “First of all, she looks gorgeous.”
She continued, “I think the fact that anybody has anything to say about someone else’s daughter, a minor, I think just mind your business. She’s talented, she toured the world with her mom, like there’s nothing you can say. You can’t dim that shine, let that baby glow.”
Beyoncé, also undeterred by the haters’ comments, shared a photo of her daughter on Instagram, writing, “This is your night. You worked hard, and you did such a beautiful job as the voice of Kiara. Your family could not be prouder. Keep shining.”
Just one day before the premiere of Mufasa, Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, vehemently denied allegations of assaulting a 13-year-old girl in 2000 at an MTV Video Music Awards afterparty with Sean Combs.
Originally filed in October and only specifying Combs, was refiled Sunday with new accusations against Carter, alleging that the two had drugged and assaulted her while an unnamed female celebrity watched.
In a statement regarding the allegations, Carter said, “These allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one! Whoever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree?”
He stated, “These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case.”
